IDOLATRY IN ISH-Ra-EL - The Abomination that Maketh Desolate in the Last Days

IDOLATRY IN ISH-RA-EL – The Abomination that Maketh Desolate???

One thing we have learned from studying the Old Testament this year is that on the whole, Ish-ra-El, has largely been a idolatrous people. Pres. Spencer Kimball said: Whatever you focus on most, is the God that you worship.

Most of us live in the bondage of self-seeking and self-absorption. We are focused on our natural man ego self. We seek for numerous things that we believe will make us happy: Possessions, Position in this world, power to control others and events, pleasures for self, and praise of God or others to puff us up with pride in our “self” (which is a dry reed).

Sometimes we are also focused on our troubles and struggles, the things that are not going the way “me” wants it to go. We focus discontentedly on our wants (lack), and our “not wants” (have but are not grateful for and do not choose to experience – pains, struggles, troubles, burdens, relationship problems (that we usually blame on others). Even when we do focus on God or others, it is to get them to love us and reward us and less us with some thing” we believe will make us happy. Some us even believe that if “me” does enough things right (such as obeying laws), that we will make our “self” righteous, and then God is required (Bound) to love us and reward us with everything we have “wanted” for so long (discontentedly lacked) – such as love and happiness.

Paul said: Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith (in Christ).

31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to righteousness.

32 Why? Because they sought it not by faith in Christ, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a Stumblingstone and Rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on HIM shall not be ashamed.

Romans 10: 1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going aboutto establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) (to our natural man level as if to say that we can become our own Christ merely by imitating Him)

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

All of this is idolatry as it results from a constant focus on the natural man ego self.

And it takes us away from Christ - Our Husband and our true home – the one true relationship that full-fills us in all things we hope and seek for. Our Idolatry is the Abomination in the last days that makes us “Desolate”.

We are called to BE the Bride of Christ in New and Everlasting Covenant – when we worship ourselves and what we are “Becoming”, we are not focused on Christ our Bridegroom and we are living in idolatry as pointed out in D&C 1:15-16.

D&C 93: 19 I give unto you these sayings that you may understand and know how to worship, and know what you worship, that you may Come unto the Father IN My Name, and in due time RE-Ceive (embrace within again) of his “fullness” (a fullness of Light, Love, Glory, Spirit, Life).

If we would choose to repent (turn our focus back to God, instead of always on our self) and have an eye single to God, then we would find that everything we seek is ONLY found in our relationship with Christ, our Husband – Pure Love, Peace beyond all understanding, Wisdom, Happiness, True Joy, Spiritual Depth. These are Gifts from a loving God. We, by ourselves, are nothing and will never find love and happiness and peace and joy in the things we seek to obtain for our “self”.

Whatever we seek for self is as sand in our fingers, and will slip away from us or be stolen from us by other seeking these same things their “self”. Ultimately we will find in death that these things only come as Gifts from a loving God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by Grace are ye saved through faith (in Christ); and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God: (It is) not of works, lest any man should boast.

We are not here to exalt ourselves.

We are not here to perfect ourselves

We are not here to earn salvation or a mansion in Heaven.

We are not here to glorify ourselves or perform admirably.

We are not here to “become” our own God or Saviour.

We are not here to perform great deeds to earn praise of other or to earn God’s love, or Position in this life among similar fools like ourselves, nor Power or dominion over others.

We are here to find Christ, our Bridegroom, our Husband, our protector, our guide, our strength, The VINE (to which we are permanently attached), our Lord, Our Light, Our Life, Our Beloved One, our only full-Fill-ment, our Living Water and Bread of Eternal Life - which if we Re-Ceive – embrace within again – will fill us so that we never hunger or thirst again. This is Life Eternal – to KNOW the Only True God. (our Eternal Zion).

The more we spend our lives performing supposedly great deeds to earn God’s Love, or the Praise of man, or earn great power of position, the father we get from our God and our real purpose for being here. We are her to find that Love and Joy and Peace and Liberty and fulfillment that we have “yearned” for all out miserable lives, is ONLY found in Christ, our Bridegroom and Husband. That is The NEW and Everlasting Covenant that the Father and Mother made with us

See Moroni 10: 32-33 and D&C 84: 44-48

44. For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God.

45 For the Word of the Lord is Truth, and whatsoever is Truth is Light, and whatsoever is Light is Spirit, even The Spirit of Jesus Christ.

46 And the Spirit giveth light to every man that cometh into the world; and the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the Voice of the Spirit.

47 And every one that hearkeneth to the Voice of the Spirit cometh unto God, even the Father.

48 And the Father teacheth him of “The Covenant” which he has renewed and confirmed upon you, which is confirmed upon you for your sakes, and not for your sakes only, but for the sake of the whole world.

In 1831, our Bridegroom (Husband) told us how we break this New Covenant. 15 For they (ye) have strayed from mine ordinances, and have broken mine everlasting covenant;

16 They (ye) seek not the Lord to establish HIS righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own (self as) god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an IDOL, which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall.

Then in 1832, our Lord told us: 49 And the whole world lieth in sin, and groaneth under darkness and under the bondage of sin.

50 And by this you may know they are under the bondage of sin, because they come not unto me.

51 For whoso cometh not unto me is under the bondage of sin.

52 And whoso receiveth not my voice is not acquainted with my voice, and is not of me.

53 And by this you may know the righteous from the wicked, and that the whole world groaneth under sin and darkness even now.

54 And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received—

55 Which vanity (Pride, Self worship) and unbelief (in Christ) have brought the whole church under condemnation.

56 And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all.

57 And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and Re-member the NEW Covenant, even in the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written—

58 That they may bring forth fruit (as Bride of Christ) meet for their Father’s kingdom; otherwise there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of Zion.

59 For shall the children of the kingdom pollute my holy land? Verily, I say unto you, Nay.
