What Prophets Believe about "The Law"

What Prophets of God Believe about “THE LAW”

“We know that whatever things “The Law” saith, it saith that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of “The Law” NO FLESH SHALL BE JUSTIFIED in His sight.” Romans 3:19-20

“The Law” perfecteth Nothing.” Hebrews 7:19

“The Law” worketh Wrath” Romans 4:15

“The Letter of “The Law” Killeth” 2 Corinthians 2:16

“The Gentiles have attained unto righteousness; but Israel, which followed after “The Law” hath NOT attained unto Righteousness. Why? Because they sought IT by the works of “The Law” and not by Faith; for they stumbled at that Stumbling Stone.” Romans 9:30-33.

Lehi said: “Men are instructed sufficiently that they KNOW good from evil (“The Law”). And “The Law” is given unto men, and by “The Law” NO flesh is justified; or by “The Law” men are CUT OFF. Yea, by “The temporal Law” men are CUT OFF, and also by “The Spiritual Law” they perish from that which is good, and become miserable FOREVER.” FOREVER? FOREVER! 2 Nephi 2:5

Nephi said: “We speak concerning “The Law”, that our children may know the deadness of “The Law”, and they, by knowing the deadness of “The Law”, may look forward unto that LIFE……..and know for what end (purpose) “The Law” was given. And after “The Law” is fulfilled, they need not harden their hearts when “The Law” ought to be done away.” 2 Nephi 25:27

Mosiah 3:11-27 “The Lord God saw that His people (all of us) were a stiff-necked people, and thus He gave unto them (us) “The Law” and they understood NOT that “THE LAW” AVAILETH NOTHING except through the At-One-ment of His Blood. And by nature they fall..and men drink damnation to their OWN souls (stop trying to blame this on Adam and Eve) except they humble themselves and become as LITTLE CHILDREN, and believe that salvation WAS, and IS, and IS TO COME, ONLY in and through the atoning blood (Love) of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent. For the natural man IS an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, UNLESS HE YIELDS TO THE ENTICINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, (which Holy Spirit causes him to) putteth off the natural man, and becometh a saint (sanctified one) through the At-One-Ment of Christ, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, FULL OF LOVE, willing to submit (surrender) to ALL things the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him.”

Alma 34: 8-16 8. And behold, I say unto you, that I do know that Christ shall come among the children of men, to take upon him the transgressions of his people, and that he shall atone for the sins of the world; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

9 For it is expedient that an At-One-ment (re-Conciliation) should be made; for according to the great plan of the Eternal God, there must be an atonement made, or else all mankind must unavoidably perish; yea, all are hardened; yea, ALL ARE FALLEN AND ARE LOST, and must perish------except it be through the At-One-ment, which it is expedient should be made.

10 For it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice; yea, not a sacrifice of man, neither of beast, for it shall not be a human sacrifice; but it must be an infinite and eternal sacrifice.

Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood which will atone for the sins of another.

12 But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered; therefore there can be nothing which is short of an infinite atonement which will suffice for the sins of the world.

13 Therefore, it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice.

14 And behold, THIS IS THE WHOLE MEANING OF “THE LAW”, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.

15 And HE SHALL BRING SALVATION TO ALL THOSE WHO SHALL BELIEVE ON HIS NAME; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith UNTO Re-Pent-ance.

16 And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto Re-Pent-ance is exposed to “The whole Law” of the demands of justice; therefore ONLY unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.

HERE IS WHAT WE (LDS) MISTAKENLY BELIEVE ABOUT THE LAW (BY NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE SCRIPTURES AND PROPHETS SAY ABOUT "THE LAW"):

The Law of God is the Truth we seek. This Truth or Law will make us Free.

The Law of God is “The Gospel”. The Commandments of God is the Law.

God has commanded us to keep the Law. God is perfectly obedient to the Law.

God would cease to be God if He disobeyed the Law.

God needs the Law to be God. “All that the Father hath” He obtained by obedience to the Law.

God is an exalted man who earned his godhood by keeping the Law perfectly.

God is under the Law. God is “Bound” by the Law. The Law is greater than God.

The Law is the source of all our Blessings – D&C 130:20-21 “There is a Law irrevocably decreed upon which all blessings are predicated and when we obtain any blessing from God it is by Obedience to that Law.”

I will have greater knowledge & Power than others if I diligently obey the Law. D&C 130:19 “If a person gains more intelligence through his diligence & obedience than another, he will have so much advantage in the world to come.” (and success in life means to have advantage over others – life is a ladder we must climb)

We are sent to this earth to learn to keep the Law and to be tested to see if we will keep the Law.

I make Covenants to keep the Law. Ordinances that I do are the Law of God, which I must do.

Jesus kept the Law perfectly. To follow Jesus I must keep the Law perfectly like He did, so I can become my Own Exalted One.

I perfect my Self by keeping the Law. I need the Law to perfect my Self.

If I keep the Law, God is Happy with me. If I break the Law, God is Angry with me.

I control God’s emotions based upon whether I keep or break the Law.

Sin is when I don’t keep the Law perfectly. I am in Sin, but someday I will keep the Law perfectly.

The wages of Sin (or not keeping the Law) is Death. Romans 6:23 I earn death as my wages. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

I am worried and fear that I cannot keep the Law perfectly.

Nephi felt the same way and was brought into the depths of despair by his sins. 2 Nephi 4:17-30 My heart exclaimeth: I am wretched, my heart sorroweth, my soul grieveth, because of mine iniquities. I am encompassed about by temptations and my sins which do easily beset me.” Why does this cause my heart to weep and my soul to linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh waste away and my strength slacken, and the evil one to have place in my heart, and my peace is destroyed and my soul afflicted and I become angry at mine enemies?”

Nephi obviously did not keep the Law as well as I am. I don’t feel as bad as he did.

If I keep the Law perfectly then I earn Eternal Life; I will live forever because I have kept the Law.

I am bound by the Law as God is bound by Law. The Law is the path to my Eternal Power & Glory.

The Law is the ladder I must climb to get into the Kingdom of God.

My salvation is by obedience to the Law. I will obtain “all that the Father hath” by Obedience to the Law. In fact, if I keep the Law I can bind God. (I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say)

Breaking the Law separates me from God. I must cling to the Iron Rod – the Law.

We attend Church to be instructed in the Law to bring us back to God.

The scriptures instruct us in the Law to bring us back to God. John 5:39

My mind is constantly occupied with and focused on how I can either Keep (or Beat) the Law

I desire to live the Law with all my mind. If I live the Law I am proud of my Self.

My view of my Self (Self-Esteem) is a function of where I am with respect to the Law.

When I keep the Law perfectly I will be All-Powerful. I am not free of the demands of the Law & never will be.

Priesthood is the authority to enforce the Law.

“The Law” and “God” are inseparable & synonymous.

President Kimball said that whatever we focus on most is what we worship. We worship the Law.

James 2:10 “Whosoever shall keep the Whole Law, and yet offend in one point (of the Law) is Guilty of ALL”(the Law)”. I apparently am guilty of THE WHOLE LAW.

Now do you understand that “The Law” availeth NOTHING, and that salvation was and is ONLY through Christ, not through “The Law”?
